A very good friend of mine just took his leased Odyssey to a gas station for an oil change... and they put the oil in the cooling system?! Seized his engine. What the absolute funk are you doing touching the insides of a car if you can’t even get that right on a modern Honda, for crying out loud.
UPDATE: I got some more info from him, and it doesn’t sound like they just put the oil in the cooling system. It was overheating, and he took it to AutoZone (he was next door already), an indy mechanic, and finally the Honda dealer. The symptoms sound head-gasket-failurey, but I’m a little concerned about someone taking responsibility now that it’s been through so many places.

Why? Just take it to the dealer.

“Leased Odyssey”: I’m going to guess 2016ish model maybe? ( *runs a quick Google image search*) So the engine seized because he must have successfully drained the oil... Let’s look at it from up top:
Okay, well I’m not familiar with Hondas, but here goes nothing... I see the brake fluid back there, I see the radiator cap plain as day, that blue one’s the washer fluid, that little clear tube would be... the coolant surge tank? And that red cap is... power steering? (Or is it electric on these?)
I’ll admit, I’m not sure where the oil goes... but that would just make me look CLOSER at things. I sure as hell wouldn’t dump it in the ******* radiator!

Apparently it’s in the cutout on the right of the plastic head cover:

Good find! And how about that- it says “ENGINE OIL” right on top.
(Now that I know where it is, I think I can just barely see the edge of it in the full engine pic.)

How did they even fit 3 liters of oil into the cooling system? Something about this seems weird. Is you friend sure he didn't blow a headgasket?

He’s going to find out more today, probably. It just happened.

I’d never take my car to one of those places. Too many mistakes for my liking. Despite the warning my brother-in-law learned the hard way when one shop didn’t tighten a drain plug and he ruined an engine on the way home.Being around dealerships you here all the horror stories. My favorite local one to avoid in one week made several huge errors about 12 years ago. They destroyed a Porsche engine, a quattro trans and then bought a GM engine from me shortly afterwards that we installed for them. I never could pry the stories out of the guys, they didn’t want to talk about it.
